STORY

Hi! My name is Ben Hammersley, I am 18 years old and I started Elvish Maps when I was 15. I started this site to teach myself business, and to have fun. I also want to be able to pay my way through university and get a head start on buying a house one day.

So why start drawing maps? I love art and drawing and I’ve always had maps around the house but they weren’t always the best looking maps. I decided to have something that was more like a work of art. I love the world of Tolkien and I live in Middle Earth, so the idea of hand-drawn Tolkien inspired maps of real places came together! I've been taking videos of my drawing and I love getting feedback from people on what they’d like to see next and what to include in my maps. When you look at my maps, I hope that your world becomes more magical for a moment, with places you may have been or want to visit, beautiful landscapes in flowing rivers,  pushing their way through thousands of tightly packed trees and individual mountains of all sizes popping their heads above the forest canopies to touch the clouds.
