Artist Message:

Everything on this map of Australia is done in the style of Tolkien. The inspiration I took from his technique when making this map flows through every river, is engraved into every little valley and mountain, and lines every coast and island. Even the place names and mountain names are done in a Tolkien style font to make the map of Australia feel like it comes from somewhere deep in Middle Earth. 

Over the 60 or so hours that it took me to create this map, I can estimate that I drew over several thousand trees, dozens of place names and several hundred mountains.

I love the sense of fulfilment when I finally finish a map like this and step back to look at it as a whole.  It is only once everything has been added that the map truly looks and feels amazing and complete.
